6 Ingredients for Fitness

Every person I come across wants to be fit. I don't think I've ever encountered a person who enjoyed being unfit and preferred that over having a fit, vibrant and healthy body. Even though the desire for fitness is so common, the attainment of it is one of the most elusive things in our world today. Why? In this article I will discuss 6 primary ingredients, that when present, are guaranteed to bring you to the fitness lifestyle you desire. My training company is called Precision Body Designs and we work to instill these 6 things into our clients each and every day. I call these the PBD Principle For Fitness Success!
Ownership
Each individual must come to terms with the fact that their physical fitness and the aspects governing it, are owned 100% by that individual. This will expand the personal responsibility each person has toward themselves regarding their level of fitness and will ensure that they are personally invested in its outcome. ApplicationThis is perhaps the most overlooked of all of my Principles for Fitness Success. So often, people already have a general working knowledge of the things they need to do to begin improving their level of fitness, but they lack the will and accountability to apply that knowledge. In fitness, knowledge is NOT power....Application of knowledge IS power.
Persistence
Any person that ever became successful when others did not, would likely list Persistence as one of the primary reasons for their success. All too often the things we as people value are quite hard to attain...that's what makes them valuable. Fitness is no different. Physical fitness is difficult to attain for many people and one factor that must be in every fitness equation is Persistence.
Conviction
A sincere belief in the process is what each person must achieve in order to gain and retain their fitness goals. This principle is essential and must be internalized by the individual striving for betterment. This idea of belief in yourself, or self-efficacy, and the process you are working through is paramount in the quest for a physically fit body and mind.
Accountability
This is the only principle that can be to a great extent influenced by other people. Whether you need a support system to keep you choosing the right foods, or whether you need a workout partner who will always show up for your scheduled workouts, Accountability to your program is essential. This is the foundation of the personal training industry. Until you can trust yourself to be completely dedicated to your program and the process of becoming fit, you must seek out forms of Accountability. The one person that will be there for you every time and all the time is your personal trainer.
Honesty
Be honest with yourself. Come to terms with your level of knowledge and your abilities. Refrain from misleading yourself when trying to progress into a more fit lifestyle. Be honest. If you need support, admit it to yourself and go find it. If you need a plan designed specifically for you, get one. If you need a support system to hold you accountable to your program, work to develop that support system. Do what it takes to make yourself into the healthy and fit person you desire to be.
These are the 6 key factors I identify in each and every person who has achieved and maintained fitness success. Give them a try, work to develop each of these characteristics in your fit lifestyle and watch your goals come to you faster than ever before.
