These days, a variety of exercise equipment is available to add to any exercise routine.
Exercise balls are offered in a number of different colors and sizes. There is the typical Pilates ball which is larger than the average exercise ball. There are also medicine balls used for strengthening, and timing balls used in martial arts for aiding in accuracy and timing strikes and kicks.
An exercise ball is also used to relieve muscle pain, lower back pain, and to help strengthen and construct the core body muscles. By creating instability during an exercise routine, the ball forces the body to build up the necessary core muscles and keep the body balanced.
Since the exercise ball was introduced, many different types of routines were created using the ball. Routines involving ab work, flexibility, and balance.
Other exercise equipment also includes weights. Three main forms of weights exists: machine, dumbbell, and barbell.
Dumbbells are weights comprised of a small bar with weights on each end, one hand is used to hold a dumbbell. Barbells are weights comprised of a large bar with weights on both ends, and both hands are used to hold it.
Machines are a safer method of weight training. They only have one path of movement, while hand held weights can cause injury.
Resistance bands are also another form of exercise apparatus. These are typically used during aerobic routines to add some weight training to the program.
