Essential Exercise Equipment & Tools
These essential tools are all you need to get fit and they're all under $50!
Exercise Ball
If I could have only one piece of exercise equipment for the rest of my life it would be this all in one wonder tool. What makes the stability ball so amazing is that it introduces instability into the exercises that you do. The instability forces your muscles to engage in a different way then when you do the same exercises without instability.
- Your core engages to help you balance, especially the deep transverse abdominals which give you truly flat abs
- The tiny stabilizer muscles that connect to the smaller muscles fire up and engage
- You force your muscles to work together to complete the movement rather than just the single muscle you are targeting.
With a stability ball I can do exercises that:
- Work the hard to target oblique and transverse abdominal muscle
- Shape and tone my legs, back and glutes
- Create sleek defined arms
- Work my abs while sitting at my desk at work.
No other single, affordable piece of exercise equipment offers the diversity of the exercise ball.
Food Database
I’ll admit it. I am a calorie counter. I don’t believe in denying myself food, I just believe in moderation, portion control and working a few extra calorie torchers into my day to make up for my indulgence.
An online food database helps me decide how many cookies to take and how much exercise I will need later to work those cookies off!
Mat
A yoga mat is truly a worthwhile fitness investment for so many reasons:
- The surface grips, which gives you a feeling of stability when you’re doing balancing poses like planks. Carpet is slippery and wood floors are just too hard
- With the cold and flu season upon us, having your own mat keeps you from coming in contact with other people's germs
- In a pinch, I’ve used my yoga mat as a sleeping pad for camping or visiting family!
Dumbbells
A good home gym really only needs a set of dumbbells, an exercise ball and a mat. With these three pieces of exercise equipment you can do over a thousand different exercises from our exercise video library!
Working out with free weights is so important for so many reasons:
- It burns a ton of calories, and the calorie burn lasts longer than from a cardio workout
- It builds bone density which prevents osteoporosis and brittle bones
- It shapes toned, lean muscle which boosts your metabolism and looks great!
For under a $100 you can create a space to exercise at home that meets all of your needs!
