Aerobic Exercise is a fun introduction into any new exercise program or routine. Overall, aerobics improves your body’s oxygen consumption by working out your cardiovascular system. Any exercise can be defined as aerobic exercise as long as it is performed at a moderate level of intensity for a longer period of time.

The health benefits of aerobic exercise are:

  • Stronger respiratory muscles
  • Stronger heart muscles
  • Toned body muscles
  • Improved blood pressure, circulation, and oxygen delivery
  • Improved mental well-being, reducing stress and preventing depression.

The performance benefits are:

  • Increased storage of fats and carbs within muscles, this allows for better endurance
  • Increased muscle blood flow
  • Increased aerobic metabolism speed within muscles, this provides you with more energy for intense exercise
  • Increased ability for the muscles to use fats while exercising
  • And, faster muscle recovery time from very intense exercise.

It is suggested for aerobic exercise to be performed at least three times a week for at least 30 minutes.
