Flexitarian Diet
The Flexitarian Diet was developed for people who like the idea of a vegetarian diet but are unwilling to completely give up meat. Thus, this diet combines vegetarian principles of eating mostly fruits, vegetables and some dairy products while allowing a reduced quantity of meat consumption. Some studies suggest that some individuals may lose as much as 30 pounds by becoming a flexitarian for up to one year. Users may choose from beginner, advanced or expert variations of the diet, depending on their maturity. With each advancing level, dieters give up one to two days of eating meat per week. Experts recommend substituting beans for half the amount of meat in recipes requiring beef. This may help individuals to transition their tastes. Though not intended as a weight loss program, some individuals may experience weight loss by eating more plants based foods.
