Hay Diet
The Hay Diet, developed by Dr. Hay, is believed to promote digestive health by having individuals eat food groups separately. The diet is built on the premise that proteins and carbohydrates especially should be eaten during different meals. The idea is to separate meals based on alkalinity, acidity and neutrality so the digestive system does not handle all three at the same time. Dieters should eat meals at least four hours apart so as not to mix the three pH types. The Hay Diet is believed to reduce health risks related to obesity, heart disease, allergies, asthma and chronic illnesses. Although some may lose weight on this diet, weight loss is not its main focus.
