Celebrity Workout Programs
Let’s face it, celebrities need to look good. It’s pretty much their only job. A good looking celebrity can make it a long way. Some people need to rely on talent, skill, wit, or personality. For some celebrities, those are just options. But all of them like to look good.
However, beyond just looking “good,” sometimes celebrities like actors need to look a certain way for a part that they need to play. For most male actors, that means getting super-buff to play an action hero or comic book character. For ladies, that often means getting lean and cut, though more women are getting into action lately and train their bodies to handle the intense stunts and fight scenes that showcase just what a strong woman is capable of.
What this means is that there are scores of different “top secret” celebrity workout routines and diet “secrets”. Here’s a run-down of some of the most extreme celebrity training programs:
Chris Evans Workout Program
Who: Chris Evans
Role: Steve Rogers/Captain America
Fun Fact: It’s said that Evans would regularly bang out sets of pushups in-between takes on the set of “Captain America” in order to keep his chest fully expanded and impressive looking.
Did he stick with it? According to Evans, not really. Immediately after the movie was wrapped up, he says that he didn’t get to the gym for about three months.

Christian Bale Workout Program
Who: Christian Bale
Role: Batman/Bruce Wayne
Movie: Batman Begins
Fun Fact: Bale’s massive upgrade for the Batman franchise was made all the more remarkable by the fact that in 2004 he had dropped down to INSANE levels (sort of literally) for his depiction of insomniac Trevor Reznick in the film “The Machinist”.
Machinist Diet: Coffee and apples, with days of starvation in between, combined with sleepless nights.
Batman Diet: “Everything in sight,” according to Bale. Like many actors who achieved massive results in short periods of time, he is often suspected of doing drugs.
Quote: “I couldn’t do one push-up the first day [of training for Batman]. All of the muscles were gone, so that was a real tough time of rebuilding all of that.”
Did he stick with it? His weight needs have evened out somewhat, but he has slimmed down for the movie “The Fighter”, where he portrayed a heroin addict. However, with the third Batman movie in the new franchise coming up, odds are he’ll be buffing up again.
Demi Moore Workout Program
Who: Demi Moore
Role: Jordan O’Neil
Techniques Used: Weight Training (2 hours per day), 6-mile run (every day)
Film Notes: G.I. Jane was the fictional story of the first woman to ever join the Navy SEAL’s.
According the Moore: “I just wanted to be believable.”
Did she keep it up? Believe it or not, that movie was almost 15 years ago. While she reportedly “took a break” for three years, her form still looks pretty reasonable.

Ryan Reynolds Workout Program
Who: Ryan Reynolds
Role: Hannibal King
Movie: Blade Trinity
Techniques: Reynolds trained for two to three hours each day, six days per week – one day for each body part
Diet: A protein-carb mix (to encourage muscle growth) every two hours – resulting in eight to ten “tiny” meals every day.
Results: +20 lbs muscle mass -8% body fat (dropping to three percent body fat – which is AMAZING)
Is he keeping it up? No one would say that Reynolds isn’t still ripped, but his rigorous filming schedule means that he doesn’t always have time to work out as much as he once did. His long list of comic book movies means that he can never stray too far from being uber-ripped. After a disastrous showing in Green Lantern, he’ll be trying to rehabilitate his image as DEADPOOL!

Film: Million Dollar Baby
Results: 20 lbs muscle gain
Notes: Swank focused on “drop down” sets – starting with a heavier weight for an exercise, doing the exercise till exhaustion, then immediately grabbing a lighter weight, and repeating the process until she couldn’t move even the lightest weight – this kind of technique shocks the muscle into extreme growth. Her “signature move” was pull-ups.
Did she stick with it? While she can’t devote the many hours of training every day to her training, she has maintained her sculpted arms.

Taylor Lautner Workout Program
Who: Taylor Lautner
Role: Jacob Black
Film: Twilight: New Moon
Results: +20 lbs muscle gain.
Quotes: “At one point I was [working out] seven days straight. I had put on a lot of weight, and then I started losing it drastically, so I was worried. It turned out that I was overworking myself.” This kind of yo-yo action is common in people who are trying to achieve a rapid body transformation. The system shock can cause massive fluctuations.

Does he keep it up? He’d better! As a hunky werewolf in the Twilight movies, he’s plastered on the bedroom walls of girls across the country (and the world, probably).
