Barlean’s Products

Flax Oils- Lignan: Phytonutrients that are heart healthy and support hormonal balance.

Flaxseed- Lignan is mixed with flaxseed oil and should be taken in one to two tablespoons per day. Most people like to put it in oatmeal, yogurt, salad dressing or protein drinks. Flax oils and lignan is good for hair and nails, joints, cholesterol levels, energy, stamina, and glucose levels.

Barlean’s Flax Oil Blends

  • Total Omega - It offers the full spectrum of omegas 3, 6, and 9.
  • The Essential Woman - Blended omegas, lignan, primrose oil, and soy isoflavones. The combination is supposed to offer hormonal balance for women.
  • Omega Man - A combination of pumpkin seed oil, phospholipid concentrates, lignans and phytosterols. Supposed to offer peak performance support for athletic strength and support healthy prostate tissue.
  • Lignan Omega Twin - Lignan and flaxseed oil blend with the 3, 6, and 9 omega punch.                           
  • Omega Twin-Flax/Borage Oil - A combination of flaxseed oil and borage oil which is supposed to help alleviate allergy, inflammation, and pain issues.
  • Greens - Barlean’s now offer berry flavored super foods in the form of greens. Organic wheat, oat and barley leaves are combined with juice powders of the same and other ingredients that include spirulina, sea vegetables, and curcumin extract. All is said to purify the organs and the blood supply. Directions require one heaping tablespoon in juice or water up to three times per day.
  • Forti-Flax - Ground flax seed people general sprinkle on cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, or even mix in water or juice for fiber and omega-3 benefits.
  • Fish Oils - Fresh Catch is the registered name for Barlean’s fish oils, cod liver oils, and ultra EPA and DHA variations. These are ultra-purified pharmaceutical grade oils.
  • Omega Swirl - A variation of flavored flaxseed oil blends without the oily taste according to manufacturers. These are smoothie selections in various flavors. Most are sweetened with xylitol, a natural sweetener.


Barlean's Specialty Oils 

  • Evening Primrose Oil - Containing Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) is produced in the body from fatty acids. Good for skin, hair, and nails in addition to improving hormonal balance and mood.
  • Coconut Oil - In conjunction with the natives of Quezon of the Philippine Islands, the Barlean family offers fresh 100% organic and pressed extra virgin coconut oil.
  • Borage Oil - Also containing GLA, borage oil helps those suffering from eczema, psoriasis, blood vessel constriction, metabolizing natural hormones, and nerve conduction. Borage oil also promises to aid in skin cell proliferation and producing lean muscle mass.
  • Olive Leaf - Considered a health tonic to work as an antioxidant for the immune system. One tablespoon is advised, and meant to be consumed straight or with a glass of water or juice. For children the recommended dosage is half the adult dosage and is not meant for children under two years of age.
  • Brevail - Made exclusively for breast health, it is the only product of its kind. It contains
  • Vitamin D3, lignan extract, lignan  and secoisolariciresinol diglycoside. It should be taken with juice or water, with or without meals. A percentage of proceeds from the sale of this product goes to the National Breast Cancer Prevention Foundation. Not recommended for lactating, pregnant, adolescent females. Not intended for those attempting to conceive.
  • Santeria - A water filtration system that filters tap water through essential earth elements that adds minerals while alkalinizing and adding vitality to water.

Barlean’s also offer products for kids as well as educational books related to the omega- 3 diet. Kids Omega Swirls come in candy form and supposedly taste like dessert. Recipes are also available on the Barlean website.

Barlean's Reputation

In June of 2001 the Barlean family was issued a warning letter for skating too close to claims of healing medical ailments. Their products have not been approved by the FDA and should only be consumed with this knowledge. As with any supplement, your doctor should also be advised of any intent to consume.

In contrast to the 2001 warning, this product line has since received numerous accolades to include:
