Drinks That Work Product Line

The Upshot energy shooter is made up of 300mg of the main ingredient PhytoXan and 200mg of USP caffeine anahydrous. PhytoXan is a trademarked formula containing naturally stimulating ingredients such as:

  • Plant Methylxanthines-Caffeine
  • Theophyline made from (kola nut, guarana seed extract, and green tea extract)
  • Theobromine

Other ingredients vary according to the three optional flavors.

Kola contains, water, liquid sucrose, natural gums, citric acid, potassium sorbate and natural flavors. Fruit flavor contains real fruit juice in place of the gums, citric acid and natural flavors. Mocha has the same ingredients as Kola with vanilla, El Salvadorian coffee and chocolate extracts added. Potassium sorbate is added as a preservative.

More flavors have been added since the website was designed. Pomegranate and 5Berry are two popular additions. Pomegranate is carbonated to mask the bitter taste making it a better choice for some.

Most recently a non-carbonated pomegranate was introduced with a more desired taste, according to Mr. Lovejoy. The berry flavor was added at the suggestion of the advisory board to take advantage of the polyphenols and antioxidants they offer.

The amount of caffeine in Upshot compared to other drinks pushes this drink to the front of the class. It has four times more caffeine than a Starbucks Double Shot and more than twice the amount in Red Bull. It even surpasses its biggest competitor, 5-Hour Energy by 62mg.

Drinks That Work Product Reviews

Reviews of Upshot energy drinks are plenty, and some are amusing. Everyone that reviewed it felt the charge; however, the descriptions and experiences were about the horrible taste.

Online user reviews painted humorous descriptions that correlated to disgusting thoughts and imagery. Some even had real reactions to the taste.

One reviewer became nauseated and experienced projectile vomiting, while another drank several within a short period of time and had several blood vessels burst around his heart. The young man is ok, but vowed not to drink as many in a short time frame again.

Many consumers suggest to readers that they chug it rather than sip it. One person in the medical profession was impressed with the caffeine boost and bought a large quantity since he works a lot of long hours despite the taste. Of course, the downsides of caffeine consumption are certainly well know in the medical profession and should be well considered.

Many people mix the product with alcohol or fruit juice. It is a popular fad for young people to mix energy drinks with alcohol. This is not a recommendation.

Drinks That Work Side Effects

People whose bodies are sensitive to caffeine should not consume this product. Drinking too much caffeine can become habit forming. It can also raise your blood pressure. Too much caffeine in a short period can cause vomiting in some people. Many people think green tea has no caffeine, which is not true.

Other side effects relate to sucralose which has similar effects to aspartame although it is natural. Natural extracts may accumulate in the body and cause reactions that have not been studied. This is the reason many have not been approved by the FDA.

Mixed with alcohol, this product can be dangerous. Florida’s Poison Control Information Center had a 400% spike in energy drink related adverse reactions in 2009.

Drinks That Work: Are They Still In Business?

Energy drink production has reached a $6.9 billion high. It has not been a free ride for Drinks That Work however. Several reports note that this business filed for bankruptcy and is no longer in business. This rumor may have some merit since there are many reviewers who reported that they could no longer find Upshot on the shelves.
