Protos Foods and Ostrich

The reason that Protos Foods uses ostrich meat in their meat sticks is because ostrich is very high in protein. In addition, ostrich is a low fat meat that is much healthier than even turkey meat.

In fact, Ostrim contains 1.5 grams of fat per 1.5 ounces of meat, 14 grams of protein, 80 calories and 25mg of cholesterol. All of these numbers are lower than that of turkey meat cooked exactly the same way.

Protos Foods Products

Protos Foods as six product categories, which include:

  • OSTRIM Sticks
  • OSTRIM Natural Sticks
  • OSTRIM Jerkee
  • Super OSTRIM Nuggets
  • OSTRIM Turkey Sticks
  • gimme

ORSTRIM Sticks contains the following flavors:

  • Teriyaki
  • Natural
  • BBQ
  • Pepper

ORSTRIM Sticks are nearly fat free with only 4% fat. Protos claims that this snack alternative is moist and delicious and provides you with more protein than any other beef sticks on the market.

OSTRIM Natural Sticks

The four products in this category are:

  • Natural Original
  • Natural Pepper
  • Natural Teriyaki
  • Natural Beef & Soy

Much like the original ORSTRIM sticks, these products only contain 4% fat. In addition, the natural sticks contain no trans fat, no fillers and no preservatives.

OSTRIM Jerkee

The two products in this category are:

  • Teriyaki
  • Pepper

While these are slightly higher in fat and calories than their stick counterparts, these products are a viable option for beef jerky. These products contain 5% fat, 10 grams of protein, only 3 grams of cabs, less than 1 gram of sugar, 60 calories and are high in potassium and amino acids.

Super OSTRIM Nuggets

The two products in this category are:

  • Sweet Pepper
  • Cranberry

This product is a combination of lean beef and ostrich. It also includes soy protein isolates to increase the protein levels of the product. A serving size is one bag, where you will receive 40 grams of protein.

These products were designed for serious athletes who need to increase their protein intake.

OSTRIM Turkey Sticks

This is a new product from Protos and the first meat stick that doesn’t contain ostrich. Instead the two products in this category are turkey. The flavors include:

  • Applewood
  • Maple

This is an alternative for people who aren’t sure about ostrich or want alternative tastes.

Protos Foods gimme

Gimme is Protos Foods newest food line and it has nothing to do with meat. Gimme is a line of nutritional supplements in candy form, a totally new area for Protos Foods.

There are four products in this line, which include:

  • gimme probiotics dark chocolate candies
  • gimme omega 3 dark chocolate candies
  • gimme vitamin D3 dark chocolate candies
  • gimme calcium milk chocolate candies

Protos Foods gimme Probiotics

Protos Foods gimme Vitamin D3

Protos Foods and Buying Their Products

If you are looking to buy any of Protos Foods products, you can do so online. If you are worried about the shelf life of these products, don’t.

Much like beef jerky and other beef stick products, OSTRIM products don’t have to be refrigerated and there is no real worry about it spoiling before you eat them.

In addition, you can find local retailers that sell Protos Foods products. Protos Foods heavily promotes GNC because GNC is a nationwide brick and mortar store that sells their products.

However, if you want to visit some other stores because you don’t want to wait for a shipment to arrive; or you simply want to taste one first before you commit to purchasing an entire box, then you can visit the Protos Foods website for a list of stores that sell their products, where they are located and their phone numbers.

Protos Foods is also looking for resellers of their products. If you are a fan of OSTRIM meat sticks or jerkee, then you might want to consider becoming a seller on your website or in your store.

You don’t have to join a franchise or anything to sell their products. If you are interested, simply contact them through their website.

Protos Foods and Comparing Prices

One of the things you might want to consider is the cost of Protos Foods’ products compared to similar products, such as beef jerky, beef sticks or even protein bars, which Protos Foods often compares their products to.

The cost of a OSTRIM Meat Stick is about $1.65 each if you purchase them directly from the website, although, if you purchase a case it comes to $1.13 each. On average an energy bar costs about $2 to $5 each, depending on the brand, so there is certainly a savings there.

However, compared to regular beef sticks or beef jerky, Protos Foods breaks even in one category and is a bit expensive in the other. Protos Foods products are much more expensive with the average container of beef sticks at your local grocery store costing about $3.

It is against the beef jerky, however, that you will see a savings. Some brands cost almost twice as much as Protos Foods products cost, and for the same amount of product. Protos Foods products has a wider variety of flavors than most brands.
