Universal Nutrition's inventory is fairly large, providing supplements in the following categories: sports supplements, powders, diet and energy, general health and support, and carbs for diets. It seems that most of the Universal Nutrition supplements are geared towards fitness buffs, athletes and bodybuilders - although some seem to be general purpose products.

For example, the Universal Nutrition inventory of vitamins contains both daily multivitamins as well as therapeutic vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E products. While these Universal Nutrition vitamin formulas certainly have benefits to the athlete, they are also beneficial to the standard consumer as well.

On the other hand, Universal Nutrition produces supplements such as protein powders and creatine supplements clearly designed for bodybuilders trying to increase size and strength. These are not products for everyday use for the average consumer, unlike the Universal Nutrition vitamins and weight loss supplements.

Universal Nutrition also sells promotional items like T-shirts and posters. All of their products can be found on the Universal Nutrition website.

Universal Nutrition Product Purchasing

Consumers who wish to purchase Universal Nutrition products will most likely start with their website. They offer an online shopping cart which is secure and accepts major credit cards and such as Visa, MasterCard,  and American Express.

Customers simply browse through Universal Nutrition products, choose the ones they are interested in, and then enter the required information at checkout. Shipping generally takes place within 1 to 2 business days of the receipt of your order.

Universal Nutrition products are also available at dozens of online retailers like GNC and Amazon. Their website lists no fewer than six retailers, and suggests that there are hundreds of more retail and gym outlets across the country.

Of the six listed on the Universal Nutrition website, three are nationally known chains while the other three are regional outfits. It's possible that Universal Nutrition supplements can be purchased locally even though such local outlets are not listed.

Universal Nutrition Pricing

A brief perusal of Universal Nutrition's online store shows prices you would normally expect from this type of supplement maker. On the low end of the pricing chart are their multivitamins and diet products, which can be priced as low as $15.

On the higher end Universal Nutrition's anabolic supplements for bodybuilding can be as much as $60 per container. Unfortunately, their website doesn't contain much dosage information so it is impossible to tell how long one package would last.

Universal Nutrition’s pricing seems to be in line with those of their competitors. Typically, anabolic bodybuilding supplements are the most expensive as our protein powders, creatine powders, and nitric oxide boosters.

On the other hand, vitamins and energy boosters tend to be pretty inexpensive by comparison. There's nothing specific about Universal Nutrition prices that would lead one to believe you should not purchase products directly from the company.

Universal Nutrition Website Information

The Universal Nutrition website is not bad as far as website ago, but they could provide a bit more information regarding ingredients, dosage instructions, and recommended daily allowances. Even without that information, each Universal Nutrition product page does have a fairly detailed description about what the product does and how it works.

The Universal Nutrition website also provides a small amount of industry related news and the some articles written by athletes who have used Universal Nutrition supplements.

Universal Nutrition Recall

In March 2011 the FDA announced a voluntary recall being undertaken by Universal Nutrition. According to the recall notice there were some packages of Universal protein-based products in danger of causing salmonella poisoning.

It is important to note that Universal Nutrition's finished products were not in question is a result of the recall. Rather, the manufacturer of the whey protein used in the supplement initiated the recall effort to find possible salmonella issues.  No one seems to have been harmed as a result of using Universal Nutrition products.
