  • There are different factors to take to account when determining if a multivitamin is of good quality.
  • It is good to choose vitamins that are made in the USA as products have to attest to certain regulations.
  • It is wise to research products you are interested in.
  • Lastly, it is best to consult your doctor to ensure if supplementation is healthy and needed.

If you are planning on taking a multivitamin, you would want to know that you are getting the best possible product on the market.

The problem that you are going to face is that there are dozens of multivitamin options for you to consider.

Typically, you will want to begin by choosing vitamins that are made in the USA.

You need to understand that the vitamin and supplement industry is not regulated like the pharmaceutical industry.

However, U.S. companies are required to follow the FDA’s General Recognized as SAFE (GRAS) rules in order to produce their vitamins.

While this doesn’t guarantee that you are getting the highest quality ingredients in your multivitamin, what it does do is ensure that you are getting uncontaminated ingredients.

Many deaths and serious illnesses related to supplements are the results of contamination rather than the actual type of product itself.

Remember, supplementation alone is not enough for your overall health and fitness needs. Exercise is also an important component of your overall health. If you are looking for an exercise routine, look no further. Go PRO today for access to certified personal trainers, workout plans, and more.

How Can I Tell If the Ingredients in the Multivitamin Are a Good Quality?

This is tough to answer simply because there are a lot of different things that can reduce the quality of a multivitamin. Many people don’t realize this, but most vitamins can come from multiple sources.

In addition, some sources are better for you than others. In general, a good quality multivitamin will contain natural sources for your vitamins rather than being synthesized.

Now, just because a product claims to be all-natural doesn’t mean that it is the best product. Some all-natural products contain a number of natural fillers but contain a reduced amount of actual vitamins compared to fillers.

Is There a Single Place That I Can Learn About High-Quality Multivitamins?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a single place that you can go to learn about the different sources of vitamins that you want to take. There are sources that are dedicated to specific vitamins and the USDA does have a general source for learning about vitamins but none are dedicated to a list of possible ingredients.

Before you buy a multivitamin, you need to do your research on the best sources for the different vitamins that you are trying to get from your multivitamin. What’s more, if you need to ensure that the highest quality of that ingredient is included as well.

For example, did you know that there are different grades of magnesium? Magnesium oxide is commonly used in multivitamins, but it is the lowest quality of magnesium available.

Magnesium oxide is used because it is very inexpensive to produce. A good quality vitamin will contain magnesium malate or possibly coral magnesium, which are more expensive to produce but don’t cause oxidation in your body.

What’s more, certain sources for different vitamins and minerals can actually interact with other vitamins and minerals that you can take, reducing their potency or preventing absorption and so on.

The bottom line is that there are too many variables and too many different vitamins for a single source to be able to tell you how to spot the best ingredients. The solution to this is to talk to your doctor or nutritionist.

Ask for a recommendation for a multivitamin or discuss the type of vitamins that you want to take and ask what the best sources are for each of those vitamins. This will help you narrow down your choices!

Can a High-Quality Multivitamin Cause Health Problems?

Many people are surprised to learn that a multivitamin can cause medical problems. What’s more, a multivitamin can also interfere with your medication and cause it to work to well or not work well enough.

You should treat taking a new vitamin the same way you would take any medication by talking to your doctor before you start your regimen. This is especially true if you have any medical conditions or if you are taking any medication.

On a list of things that you should know about vitamins and assumptions that people make about vitamins, the FDA specifically mentions the assumption that people make about natural vitamins being safe. Simply put, the FDA makes the same recommendation made here, talk to your doctor first!

While vitamins A, B, and C may not be known for their interactions, even these vitamins can interact with certain conditions. For example, on WebMD, they warn that vitamin A can interact with antibiotics, reducing their efficacy.

Talking to your doctor first will ensure that no matter what multivitamin you take, you are doing so in a healthy and responsible way.

Remember that supplementation of any kind is not enough for your overall health and fitness needs. Exercise is important. Go PRO today for access to certified personal trainers, workout plans, goal trackers, and more!
