Back in 1974, a 60-year-old computer programmer and assistant coach at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) set out to perfect the three-pointer form. Over 20 years later, what started out as a simple goal turned into a world record.

At the Caltech gym in 1996, Fred Newman made 209 consecutive three-pointers, setting the world record!

Although Newman’s goal ended up breaking world records, not all do. Some goals are meant to simply set a personal record. Just a few months ago, NBA trainer Tyler Relph broke his personal record and inspired his clients to test their own records.
