Arginine AKG

Burn Fat / Aid Overall Health / Increase Energy

Arginine AKG (alpha ketoglutarate) is a sports supplement usually taken by athletes such as weight lifters and body builders. These athletes are always looking for help in increasing the size and strength of their muscles. Arginine AKG is one way to achieve these results.

Arginine is one of the amino acids and alpha ketoglutarate is a form of glutamine, another amino acid. Amino acids help to build proteins in the body. The specific combination of these two amino acids also helps to increase the body’s production of nitric oxide.

Arginine AKG is a supplement that is offered by many health and vitamin stores and is available in a variety of doses. As with all supplements, you should know the benefits, side effects, and dosage requirements before you start taking arginine AKG.

Not all types of physical activity are suitable for everyone. Users take training advice at their own personal risk.

Muscle Growth And Arginine AKG

There are a number of possible benefits that are associated with supplementing with arginine AKG. One of the reasons for quite a few of these benefits is because arginine AKG increases nitric oxide production in the body.

Nitric oxide controls a lot of processes in the body, including blood vessel dilation, muscle growth, the function of the immune system, and nerve signaling.

For athletes, arginine AKG is beneficial because it helps to increase the growth of muscles and increases the dilation of blood vessels. If you exercise regularly and have more blood flowing to your muscles, your muscles will look bigger.

Increased blood flow means that nutrients and oxygen will reach your muscles more quickly to help them repair, recover, and grow at a faster rate.

Other Benefits of Taking Arginine AKG

Increasing blood vessel dilation also helps with a number of other things. It helps support the circulatory system.

Increased blood flow can help the nervous system as well as the immune system. Arginine AKG may also improve sexual function because increased blood flow helps men to get and maintain an erection.

Because it increases vasodilation and helps relax smooth muscle, arginine AKG may help with heart conditions such as hypertension and angina pain. However, you should not take arginine AKG in the event of a heart attack.

Arginine AKG has also been shown to possibly increase the levels of human growth hormone (HGH) in your body. This increase of HGH can further help increase muscle tissue and increase the burning of body fat.

Other possible benefits of arginine AKG include fighting cancer, increasing the thymus gland activity, detoxifying the liver, and healing burns and wounds.

Arginine AKG Dosage Guidelines

For most healthy adults, you should take 2.5 grams to 5 grams of arginine AKG on a daily basis. You can take this at one time in the morning or divide it into 2 dosages, one in the morning and one about an hour before you work out.

If you take a powdered form of arginine AKG you can mix it with the beverage of your choice, including juice, milk, water, or others. You should also drink water throughout the day while you are supplementing with arginine AKG, from at least 40 to 64 ounces on a daily basis.

If you are taking a higher dose on a daily basis, you should not supplement with it for more than two months or 60 days.

Side Effects Associated With Arginine AKG

For the most part, normal doses of arginine AKG has been shown to be safe for the majority of adults. If you are under 18 years of age you should not take this supplement.

If you are taking high doses of arginine AKG, which for most individuals this means 15 grams or higher every day, you may experience some side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and nausea. High doses may also cause you to break out with cold sores or herpes if you are prone to this normally.

Stop taking arginine AKG and speak with your doctor if you notice any of these or other side effects.

Because there has not been enough research done, WebMD advises that if you are breast feeding or pregnant you should not take arginine AKG.

Although arginine AKG can help with those with possible heart conditions, you should always take it under the guidance of your health care provider. You should avoid taking this supplement if you have already had a heart attack unless your doctor indicates otherwise.

You should also consult your physician if you are taking any medication or have a medical condition. This is especially true if you have hypoglycemia, diabetes, mental illness, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, or liver disease.
