Yohimbine HCL

Yohimbine HCL

Aid Overall Health

Yohimbine is an herbal compound that comes primarily from the bark of a coniferous tree found in West Africa. Yohimbine HCL is the standardized version of this compound with hydrochloric acid added.

Yohimbine HCl is also considered to be what's known as an alkaloid. Alkaloids are nitrogen rich compounds which, when used as herbal supplements, increase cardiovascular activity.

Yohimbine HCl should always be used with strict adherence to a doctor's prescription or instructions printed on a supplement package. Using it improperly could have serious and dangerous side effects.

Not all types of physical activity are suitable for everyone. Users take training advice at their own personal risk.

Yohimbine HCl For Sexual Dysfunction

According to the NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, African cultures have historically taken advantage of the alkaloid properties of Yohimbine HCl by using it as an aphrodisiac. In the Western world, Yohimbine HCl is now most often used for male sexual dysfunction in both prescription form and less potent herbal dietary supplements.

Yohimbine HCl is marketed under several well known brand names including: Erex, Testomar, Yohimex, and Aphrodyne.

Although there are many different reasons why male sexual dysfunction occurs, one of the common components in many cases is simply a lack of blood flow to the male sex organs. Without proper blood flow it is difficult to get and maintain an erection, making proper sexual functioning nearly impossible.

Substances able to increase blood flow provide benefits for every part of the body, including the sex organs. Although not always successful, such drugs and supplements can do wonders for men suffering from erectile dysfunction.

The key to Yohimbine HCl's alleged success is the fact that it is a compound which is nitrogen rich. Nitrogen is known to improve cardiovascular activity by "loosening up" constricted blood vessels, thereby providing a whole host of benefits has increased blood, oxygen, and nutrients flow throughout the body.

The principle behind using Yohimbine HCl for sexual dysfunction is the same principle behind body builders using nitric oxide boosters to increase performance and recovery in their weight training regimens.

Theories aside, the U.S. National Library of Medicine published a 1998 study by researchers in Brazil which showed that Yohimbine HCl provided no noticeable improvement in men who were suffering from organic erectile dysfunction. The term "organic" simply refers to problems that are not related to injury or "mechanical" malfunction.

According to the study more than 50% of the Yohimbine HCl users reported at least a partial response, but so did the placebo users.

Yohimbine HCl as an Aphrodisiac

Because studies regarding Yohimbine HCl's effectiveness for male sexual dysfunction are not conclusive, it's also difficult to say whether or not the compound is useful as an aphrodisiac. From what we know about nitrogen and cardiovascular activity it seems reasonable that it could be helpful.

A 2007 study published in the Asian Journal of Andrology suggests there are some other properties that make Yohimbine HCl more effective as an aphrodisiac than an erectile dysfunction treatment.

Apparently, Yohimbine HCl blocks some key receptors in the human body causing a reaction within the central nervous system. This in turn increases the levels of dopamine, noradrenaline, and nitric oxide. Researchers specifically noted the effects of noradrenaline on the male sex organs and concluded that they are indeed measurable.

Other Uses for Yohimbine HCl

Because of the relationship between this compound and nitric oxide, Yohimbine HCl is sometimes used as an ingredient in bodybuilding formulas. Bodybuilders love nitric oxide boosters because they allow for better performance in the gym.

Nitric oxide boosters also help encourage greater muscle mass, and they make for a quicker and more efficient recovery immediately after exercise has ended. Along these same lines, some supplement makers include Yohimbine HCl as an ingredient in weight loss products.

The medical community has used Yohimbine HCl for a variety of other purposes over the years. For example, it is been used to counter some of the side effects of certain antidepressants which, in themselves, can be unpleasant.

The compound also seems to have some benefits in terms of memory recall. Yohimbine HCl has been used to treat individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) by helping them recall repressed memories so they can be dealt with properly.
