  2. Take a large enough step so that your knee does not extend past your toes. Your knee should stay directly over your heel as you lower down into the lunge.
  3. Be sure to drop down until your back knee almost touches the ground.

Variations

  1. Perform with a pair of dumbbells or a barbell on your upper back.
  2. Perform exercise while walking or alternate legs back and forth while staying in one spot.
  3. Perform a lunge and twist. Twist to one side as you are in the lunge position, before coming up out of the lunge.
