- Step 1: There are 3 different positions in this sport. A jammer, pivot, and blocker. Jammers score points for their team by lapping opposing team players.
- Step 2: Pivot is a blocker who can be switched to a jammer during the course of a jam.
- Step 3: Blockers block for the jammer to be able to get around and lap the opposing team.
- Step 4: You are allowed to contact the other team but their are still penalties for certain blocks or maliciousness.
- Step 5: As you skate around the lap you need to keep your head on a swivel and remain in a strong base ready for contact.
- Step 6: The jammer should be full speed skating as fast as they can around the lap as long as there are not blockers from the other team near them.
- Step 7: To speed skate you need to be able to push off your back leg with force. Use your arms also to help your propel yourself forward as well.
- Step 8: Continue for the designated period of time or points.
