tread water is a calisthenics, cardiovascular, and total body exercise that primarily targets the quads and to a lesser degree also targets the chest, hamstrings, hip flexors and shoulders.

The only tread water equipment that you really need is the following: pool. There are however many different tread water variations that you can try out that may require different types of tread water equipment or may even require no equipment at all.
