Most kids today aren’t getting enough exercise, even though it’s important for development and health. However, kids also don’t need to exercise in the same way as adults. Age appropriate DVDs can be a great way to engage kids in fitness routines.
Here are a few things to consider when looking for a DVD for your kid’s home exercise routine:
Choose an Appropriate Activity
If for some reason your child isn’t able to do age-appropriate calisthenics such as jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups or other basics, then he or she isn’t going to enjoy a DVD with that type of exercise program. Consider an exercise DVD that allows for easier moves such as stretches, low-impact aerobics or even exercises that can be done while sitting down.
Think Outside the Box
You may need to get creative. Instead of buying a DVD with regular exercises such as jumping jacks, running in place, and other routine exercises that may be boring for kids, consider one that incorporates makes movement fun or game-like.
Make it Fun
If your child loves martial arts or dance, get a DVD that incorporates that interest. Being interested will make your child more motivated to watch the DVD.
